Master Air Waybill
A Master Air Waybill is the airline-issued master document covering an entire consolidated air shipment. Many HAWBs — one per shipper — ride beneath a single MAWB. The MAWB carries the flight number, airline, origin and destination airports, gross weight, dimensional weight, and carrier-level routing details.
Relationship to HAWBs
The MAWB is issued by the airline to the freight forwarder acting as the consolidator. The forwarder then issues individual HAWBs to each of their shipper customers. This two-level structure is standard in consolidated air freight, and the MAWB number is the reference used for airline-side tracking and cargo release at destination.
How CargoGen Handles It
CargoGen records the master air waybill on the shipment and links it to all associated house air waybills. Departure and arrival milestones are recorded on the shipment's legs, so the whole office sees the same status for every consignment under that master.
