House Air Waybill

HAWB

A House Air Waybill is the air-freight equivalent of the House Bill of Lading. Issued by the freight forwarder to the shipper, it covers a single shipper's consignment within a larger consolidated air shipment moved under a Master Air Waybill (MAWB). Like the HBL, it carries the cargo description, weights, dimensions, and freight terms — and rides under a master document issued by the airline rather than the forwarder.

In Consolidations

When a forwarder consolidates multiple shippers' cargo onto one aircraft, each shipper receives their own HAWB. The forwarder then holds a single MAWB from the airline covering the entire consolidated shipment. Managing the mapping between individual HAWBs and the parent MAWB is a core documentation task in air freight forwarding.

How CargoGen Handles It

In CargoGen, air jobs carry the flight number, MAWB number and chargeable weight on the same job record as ocean jobs, with a calculator for chargeable weight.
