Indian Customs and Central Excise Electronic Gateway
ICEGATE is the Indian customs electronic filing portal operated by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). Shipping bills, the export declaration, and bills of entry for imports are filed through ICEGATE. It is the single electronic gateway between freight forwarders, customs brokers, and Indian customs authorities.
What Gets Filed Through ICEGATE
For exports, a shipping bill is filed through ICEGATE containing the cargo description, HS code, declared value, consignee details, and port of loading. For imports, a bill of entry is filed with similar details plus applicable duty calculations. Once customs processes the filing, ICEGATE issues a reference number and, for exports, eventually grants the Let Export Order (LEO).
How CargoGen Handles It
Filing with ICEGATE, as with any customs authority, is done by your customs broker. CargoGen's customs entry carries configurable country reference fields, so the shipping bill number and filing reference sit on the shipment record alongside the entry's status and documents.
